COOKIE POLICY

Cookie definitions and characteristics

Cookies and similar technologies are information which websites and apps send or read on your devices when you first browse them; they are then sent back to the same websites or apps when you next browse them. It is exactly thanks to these technologies that websites and apps can record actions and preferences (for example login data, preferred language, size of the characters, other viewing settings, etc.), which thus do not need to be entered when you next browse the website or app.

These technologies are used for IT authentication, monitoring of session and storage of information concerning the activities of users who access a service; they may also contain a unique identification code which makes it possible to keep track of the user’s browsing of the website for statistical or advertising purposes.

There are actually several types of cookies, which – depending on their characteristics and functions – may be stored on your devices for different lengths of time: what are known as session cookies are automatically erased when you exit the browser; on the other hand, what are known as persistent cookies stay on your device for a set length of time.

In line with the regulations in force, your prior consent to using cookies is not always required. More specifically, such consent is not required in the case of “technical cookies”, i.e. those which are used for the sole purpose of sending a notice through an electronic communication networks, or strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user. In other words, these are essential cookies for a website to function.

On the other hand, prior consent from you is required in the case of “analytical” non-anonimysed cookies and for profiling cookies, i.e. those which provide statistical analyses on the use of a website or create user profiles to send them advertising messages based on the preferences which have been shown while browsing.
